Crete is the largest Greek island and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean Sea. From all Greek islands it is the closest to North Africa. Crete has important for Mediterranean location. It is located 7 km away from Heraklion, 7 km from Knossos Palace, 4 km from the port and 7 km from the airport. Near the city you can find remains from the neolith era, which are evidence that the city was part of the ancient settlement Knossos.
